who we are
Federally recognized 501 (C) 3 non-profit charity founded and run by Skilled Craftsmen who want to pay it forward to tomorrow's Craftsmen.
mission & vision
To let the children who live in Children's Homes and Foster Care in the United States know that Skilled Craftsmen care about them.
Tracy knew what it was like to grow up in a tough situation. He would go around the jobsites and collect whatever people could spare to put shoes on "those babies' feet". He felt so fortunate to be able to impact the lives of others with the help of his fellow craftsmen.
2005 - Tracy Allen Newsome begins collecting donations from his fellow Craftsmen to put "shoes on those babies' feet".
2009 -Tracy is killed in a tragic car wreck on his way home from his job as a Journeyman Plumber, running Cast Iron for Art Plumbing, at the New International Terminal at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. His co-workers raise $3000.00 and deliver it to his widow at the Memorial Service. His widow asks Bob Carpenter if there is any way he could help with the Shoe Drive. Bob Carpenter agrees and calls on friends to make sure the Shoe Drive continues.
2012 - The TAN Shoe Drive becomes the United Craftsmen Children's Shoe Drive, Inc., a 501 (C) 3. Federally Recognized, Non-Profit Charity incorporated in the State of Georgia.
2014- UCCSD, Inc. expands to Birmingham, AL thanks to Wayne Brown, Timmy Dorminey, Jeff Harrison, and Davey Bailey who created our Bass Fishing Tournament. We also launch the Online Auction thanks to Heather Coggins.
