UCCSD, INC. HISTORY2005 - Tracy Allen Newsome begins collecting donations from his fellow Craftsmen to put "shoes on those babies' feet".
2009 -Tracy is killed in a tragic car wreck on his way home from his job as a Journeyman Plumber, running Cast Iron for Art Plumbing, at the New International Terminal at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. His co-workers raise $3000.00 and deliver it to his widow at the Memorial Service. His widow asks Bob Carpenter if there is any way he could help with the Shoe Drive. Bob Carpenter agrees and calls on friends to make sure the Shoe Drive continues. 2012 - The TAN Shoe Drive becomes the United Craftsmen Children's Shoe Drive, Inc., a 501 (C) 3. Federally Recognized, Non-Profit Charity incorporated in the State of Georgia. 2014- UCCSD, Inc. expands to Birmingham, AL thanks to Wayne Brown, Timmy Dorminey, Jeff Harrison, and Davey Bailey who created our Bass Fishing Tournament. We also launch the Online Auction thanks to Heather Coggins. 2015 - UCCSD, Inc. hosts its Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament at Bear's Best in Atlanta, GA. 2016 - Beth Orton joins UCCSD, Inc. and creates the Dance Party Fundraiser hosted at Old Car Heaven in Birmingham, AL. Music provided by StreetKar and BBQ provided by Rusty's BBQ. 2017 - UCCSD expands to Daytona Beach, FL with the help of David Fitzgerald, Brett Mirsky and UA Local 295. We also expand to Tulsa, OK with the help of Danny Hendrix and the members of Pipeliners Local 798. |
